Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia’s woes went a notch deeper on Saturday 12 March with the resignation of deputy coach Frank Ouna as the team suffered yet another blow to their title defense in the 2 – 2 draw with Nairobi City Stars at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The coach was standing in after head coach Frank Nuttall resigned earlier in the week but was constantly jeered during the match, with the jeers getting louder when he pulled out Ugandan international Godfrey Walusimbi for Ronald Omino in the second half.
After the match he reportedly told the players in the changing room that he will not be continuing in the role and followed through with his resignation note to the club management.
“He has informed the board about his decision and we already have his letter of resignation which he delivered soon after the City Stars game.
“I am actually shocked by the decision because I didn’t see it coming. He has been a good servant during his time here and he leaves with our blessings,” club Secretary General Ronald Ngala said.
