Lillestrom and Harambee Stars goalkeeper Arnold Origi has voiced his support for midfielder Eric Johanna after a number of fans opined that he was not worthy of the Midfielder of the Year Award he won in the 2015 KPL Awards.
Fans feel Gor Mahia midfielder Khalid Aucho should have taken home the award based on his performance in the season but Origi has stood with the Mathare United youngster noting that his performance in the season warranted the accolade.
“Johanna for sure deserved it. The young man has played well this season and even displayed the same at the national team. Alongside the other winners, they deserved their awards,” he said.
Johanna, currently on his second season at Mathare United, has grown as a player and is currently a regular for the national team, having managed six caps so far.
Origi was attending the awards for the first time and admitted he was impressed with the organization.
