Super Eagles and Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has been voted the vice captain of the Nigeria senior male football team –the Super Eagles by other members of the squad.
The Benue state born midfielder will now assist skipper Ahmed Musa who was on Wednesday appointed the new captain of the side following the demotion of Vincent Enyeama by head coach Sunday Oliseh.
Confirming the new appointments, the NFF in a statement on its official twitter handle wrote;
“Eagles’ players have elected their administrative officers who will help new captain Ahmed Musa in the discharge of his duties
“They are Ogenyi Onazi- Vice Captain, Kenneth Omeruo- 2nd Vice Captain, Efe Ambrose is spokesperson.” The NFF tweeted.
Musa began his reign as the Super Eagles captain officially on Thursday in the international friendly game against DR Congo.
Oliseh and his troop suffered a humiliating 2-0 defeat to the central African nation in Belgium, handing Oliseh his first defeat as the Eagles head coach since succeeding Stephen Keshi few months ago.
The Eagles have now shifted focus to Sunday’s encounter at the Edmond Machtens Stadium in Brussels against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
