Super Eagles vice captain Ogenyi Onazi played all 90 minutes for Lazio but he had no answers for Gonzalo Higuain and his Napoli teammates who thumped them 2-0 right in front of their teeming fans in Rome.
Many had hope that Lazio will give the highflying Napoli team a run for their money but that was not to be as the visitors took all three points from the midweek game.
Higuain opened Napoli’s account in the 24th minute, from Callejon’s assist, before the Spaniard turned goalscorer three minutes later to secure all three points for the visitors.
The match was suspended during the second half after alleged racist chanting by Lazio supporters directed at Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, before the referee decided to continue the game soon after.
With the win, Napoli thus remain two points clear of Juventus a totop Serie A after GHiguain and Jose Callejon sealed the away victory .
It is yet to be seen if the defeat by Lazio will still be followed up with a fine for the alleged racists’ attacks at the Satdio Olympico.
