Belgian second tier side Royal Antwerp, home to Kenyan international midfielder Johanna Ochieng’ Omollo may have to wait one more season for promotion after succumbing to a 1 – 2 loss to Union Saint-Gilloise on Sunday 24 April at Joseph Marien Stadium.
The loss proved costly as it saw Antwerp drop to second on the table, out of the only promotion place set aside for the league and will have to beat table toppers AS Eupen at home to get the top flight slot.
The Kenyan international clocked 90 minutes as Alves da Silva Neto and Lynel Kitambala netted a goal apiece on the 47th and 57th minutes before Mathieu Cornet grabbed a consolation for Antwerp.
Antwerp have 61 points, same as league leaders AS Eupen but the latter have a superior goal difference ahad of the two teams’ faceoff on Saturday 30 April.
Still in the league, another Kenyan international, Ayub Timbe Masika played the entire match in his side Lierse SK’s goalless draw with Lommel United at Herman Stadium.
Lierse are eighth on the log on 48 points and plays Excelsior Virton in their final game on Saturday 30 April.
