Kenyan international Michael Olunga is officially a Djugarden IF player after signing a four – year deal with the Swedish top flight side.
Olunga, who served the 2015 season at Gor Mahia was on trialat the team for the past three weeks and scored twice in three friendly matches to win the club chiefs’ hearts.
The club’s Technical Director Bosse Andersson said Olunga is just the player the club needed and lauded his hard work in training.
“Michael was a player that we followed in early autumn, and he had the qualities we were looking for. He is very ambitious and purposeful, trains hard and always want to learn and take the next step,” Andersson said.
Olunga scored a beauty on Saturday 13 February in Djugarden’s friendly match and he termed it a special goal as they were playing at their home ground.
“The goal at Tele2 Arena was special for me. It was my first match in front of the home crowd and I felt I should get something extra for them (fans) so that I would get a good welcome. I thank God for the good fortune and hopefully there will be more goals from my end.
“I have only played friendlies but it feels like a good level. Everything is very well organized and the quality of matches and training camp has been very good. It feels like it’s a good springboard to the big European leagues for many players in the Allsvenskan,” Olunga said.
