The newly appointed Kenya national team, Harambee Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi is out to restore the shimmer to the team after poor results in the recent times.
Okumbi was elevated to the post on Saturday 20 February and will be assisted by former national team skipper Musa Otieno as well as Frank Ouna and he is ready for the challenge ahead though he admits it will not be easy.
His assurance is that the call ups to his team will be purely on merit and that he will work with coaches to ensure the team’s success.
“I am happy to get this role and I know it will not be easy with all that surrounds the national team but I assure that together with my fellow coaches we will give our best.
“We have many good players that can make it to the national team and these are the players I will be looking to give a chance. Selection to the team in my time will be purely on merit and that alone.
“I will work with all coaches and I will make it open for players to play for the national team; my aim is to restore the pride,” he said.
