The Kenya national team Harambee Stars will be taking on Congo in their fifth match of the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Sunday 5 May and in this match the coach, Stanley Okumbi is hoping to get his first win with the team.
Okumbi has been in charge of the team for four matches after taking over from Bobby Williamson and in the matches he has picked two losses and as many draws but he hopes for a good turn in the Sunday game.
He says the team has prepared well and with a horde of foreign based lads, he is confident he can get the first win for himself and for the team in the qualifiers.
“We have prepared well. I think we have had the best preparations we could get and I am confident heading to the game, hoping that we carry the day.
“Congo too have prepared for this match and we know it will be tough. Out tactical approach will be important for us in the game and we want to go there well motivated. In the end I know the team with the best tactics will emerge winners,” he said.
Ahead of the match, Kenya played two friendly matches, against Tanzania and Sudan, registering 1 – 1 draws in both matches.
