Former Super Eagles captain and now Delta State FA Chairman, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha has warned against sacking current Nigeria National team coach, Sunday Oliseh.
Speaking on the heels of the Home Eagles’ early exit from the 2016 African Nations Championship, Okocha said the tournament was not enough to judge Oliseh’s ability even as he called for support for the coach.
Though sticking out his head for his former teammate, Okocha admitted that the national team is expressing one of its worst down time says it’s ‘ nothing to be ashamed of,’ but the team must dig its heels in
” We are going through a rough period, but, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. We just need to battle back and get back to where we belong.
” We can’t judge him by the outcome of CHAN, rather we should encourage and support him; let him do his thing and hopefully he’s the right person to take us to where we want to be,” Okocha told Sports Radio station Brila FM.
The Eagles were sent packing from Rwanda after a shock defeat against former Ebola-ravaged Guinea, since the early ouster, it has been a season of blame games on what was responsible for the disappointing outing.
