Sampdoria director Carlo Osti has claimed that Italian forward Stefano Okaka is a liar following the player alleged that the club treated him unfairly which led to his departure from the Serie A side.
The Anderlecht striker complained that he was forced out of Sampdoria over the summer after the club “threatened to ruin my career” if he didn’t accept either a transfer or a lowered wage deal.
“His bitterness towards us is completely unmotivated,” director Osti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It is time to say enough to his lies. Okaka arrived here, wanted by Sinisa Mihajlovic. I then proposed a five-year contract worth €1m per season until 2019, but he refused to sign.
“If anything, he was the one who had an outburst of anger at me twice, leading to him being fined by the club.”
Sampdoria are currently placed 14th on the Serie A log with 20 points after 17 matches this season.
