The top scorer in the Nigeria Professional League for last season, Gbolahan Salami has finally sealed a move to Europe where he has been offered a one year deal with Finnish Veikkausliiga outfit Kuopion Palloseura.
Fears were initially heightened that Salami may have made a wrong choice to dump the CHAN Eagles that went to Rwanda as he opted to find a club in Europe instead
Though Salami was unable to tie a ‘big deal’ as many will expect, he has officially been offered a one-year contract with KuPS, with the club having the option to extend the agreement for an additional season in December 2016.
Already a statement to that effect has been published on the official website of KuPS who barely escaped relegation last season.
It is expected that debates will rage on in the days ahead over the plausibility or otherwise of Salami settling to play in an ‘obscure’ league in Finland despite his high rating as the top scorer in the Nigerian Premier League last season.
The Finish League is welcoming more Nigerians with the likes of Taye Taiwo and Azubieke Egwueke picking what is left of their career in the Scandinavian country.
