Muhoroni Youth striker Wycliffe Ochomo has been named the SJAK/Sportpesa Player of the Month for April.
The burly striker bagged the accolade after a fine run in the club’s Sportpesa Premier League (SPL) matches in the month, which saw him score four goals, netting against Bandari, Mathare United and a brace against City Stars.
In a vote conducted by sports journalists, Ochomo beat competitors Eric Johanna of Mathare United, Jacques Tuyisenge of Gor Mahia and John Makwata of Ulinzi Stars to bag the accolade which comes with a Sh100000 award and a 43 inch television set as well as Sh50000 for the club.
Ochomo garnered 32 points in the poll with the closest competitor for the gong, Johanna getting 22 points. Makwata was third with 19 points while Tuyisenge managed 17 points.
The striker was presented with his award after the team’s Tuesday training session, and speaking afterwards, he thanked his team for the support and inspiration through the month.
“I knew someday I would be recognized if I worked hard enough. This year has been good for me and I thank the entire team for helping me score the goals and move the team up the table.” He noted.
