Returnee Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins scored all three goals for an All-Star Euro selected team as they played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Westerloo Football Academy in an exhibition match on Wednesday in a Lagos suburb.
Martins also ensured that he converted his spot kick at to make sure the All-Star Euro side finished 5-4 winners in the penalty kicks used in determining the winner of the day between the contetsing teams
Fresh from his exploits with Seattle Sounders in the MLS, Martins came on as a second half replacement for Michael Babatunde at half-time when his side were already two goals down and he reduced the deficit; scoring with a perfect strike from the edge of the box eight minutes after coming on.
He doubled his tally five minutes later with a brilliant over-head kick before capping his brilliant display by curling in a free-kick from the edge of the box to send the fans into wide jubilation.
The 31-year-old who was rightly adjudged as Man-of-the-match told reporters after the game that he was delighted to have thrilled the fans.
“I’m happy to be here and also to have scored today. Scoring goals is part of me and I’m happy the fans had a great time,” he said.
Aside Martins, the likes of Michael Odibe, Taye Taiwo, Babatunde Michael and Golden Eaglets star, Funsho Bamgbgoye among others all put up a highly-commendable display which won them applause from the vociferous fans all present to watch their football idols live in action.
