Former Flying Eagles midfielder, Chidiebere Nwakali, trained with the first team of Segunda side Girona on Monday after his official presentation to the club’s fans.
Nwakali who is on a season loan at the club from Manchester City revealed that his aim is to get more time on the pitch with coach Pablo Machín side to stand a chance with his parent club next summer.
“I have resumed training with the squad and I believe I’d get better before my return to the Ethiad next summer,” he said.
“I want to prove myself there because City knows I have a lot to offer,” he added.
Nwakali whose Malaga move to the La Liga outfit was ruined by the club’s inability to get him a work permit also adds that a promotion to the La Liga with Girona will be his immediate task at the club.
Nwakali also says he is pleased with the steady rise of his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho who has scored once in three EPL appearances.
“He’s doing well and I pray he gets more chances to show his best,” he added.
Girona are currently 17th on the log with eight points from seven games.
Nwakali could make his home debut for Girona against Ramon Azeez’s Almería next Sunday.
