Enugu Rangers and Kano Pillars were the only teams that secured points in their away games as the Match Day 6 games of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) were played across the country over the weekend.
Pillars who were even close to securing an away win ended up sharing points with Lobi Stars in their keenly contested game at the Aper Aku Stadium which finished 2-2.
For Enugu Rangers, their away point came from the Oriental Derby and just like Pillars they could have also carted away all three points but they ended settling for one as their tie against Abia Warriors also ended 2-2.
The four-goal thriller saw Abia Warriors coming from behind twice to retain their unbeaten run in the NPFL this season.
Bobby Clement and Chisom Egbuchulam were the goal scorers for Rangers while goals for Abia Warriors came off the boots of Uluocha and their danger-man Chisom Chikatara who got the all important equaliser off Ndifreke Effiong’s assist.
With the result Rangers dropped to second spot on the log with 11 points from six games.
Meanwhile a goal each from Stephen Odey, Julius Emiloju and Onuwa Chukwuka over the weekend shot newly promoted Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table as they trashed El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 3-1.
The Olukoya Boys have been impressive since the start of the season and they now have 13 points from six games; which includes a 100% winning record at home.
However, while MFM FC were cruising their way to top spot, it was not a good Sunday for the other Lagos team; Ikorodu United as they were trounced 4-1 by FC Ifeanyi Ubah in Nnewi.
In Jos, Sunshine Stars winless streak extended to six games as their former Coach, Gbenga Ogunbote lead his team Giwa FC to a lone goal win over the Akure Gunners.
Away to Lokoja, Niger Tornadoes edged Rivers United 3-2.
Recall that Akwa United had handed a 2-0 defeat to Plateau United in the Friday night clash at the Nest of Champions in Uyo.
