FC Ifeanyi Ubah have overtaken Enugu Rangers at the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League table following their 2-0 win over Plateau United on Wednesday.
The Nnewi-based team registered a goal in the first half and another in the closing stages of the second half to seal maximum points that has now seen them leapfrog over former table toppers, Enugu Rangers.
Ivorian Pascal Seka got the curtain raiser for FC Ifeanyi Ubah when he calmly converted the spot kick awarded to his side before substitute, Tamen Medrano ensured that all three points are in the kitty with a shot from 20 yards less than 5 minutes that he came on.
With the victory, FC Ifeanyi Ubah now have 19 points from 10 games; one more than Enugu Rangers who were forced to a 1-1 draw by MFM FC in Lagos.
Rangers struck first in Lagos before they were pegged back by the hard-fighting MFM FC team.
With the single point from Wednesday’s game, Rangers have dropped to second place on the log while MFM FC stay in 6th position with 18 and 16 points respectively from 10 games.
