Enugu Rangers have reclaimed the top spot on the Nigeria Professional Football League table following Friday night’s 2-1 win over their regional rivals Abia Warriors.
Rangers who have now amassed 43 points from 25 matches have overtaken Wikki Tourists at the summit of the table with, a point more than the Bauchi club.
It was Nigeria youth international midfielder Obinna Nwobodo who put Rangers in front after 15 minutes, when he fired past Abia Warriors goalkeeper John Gaadi from an acute angle on the left flank.
The hosts doubled their 20 minutes later, when Chisom Egbuchulam tucked away a penalty after the referee adjudged skipper Austin Obaroakpo handled the ball inside his vital area.
It was his 10th goal of the campaign.
With an inferior goals’ difference, Wikki Tourists could be back on top of the log once they avoid defeat in their away tie against Warri Wolves.
