CHAN Eagles striker Chisom Chikatara helped Abia Warriors have a share of the spoils in the Oriental Derby on Sunday as he netted the equalizer in the NPFL Match Day 6 tie against Enugu Rangers.
The Flying Antelopes took the lead twice in Umuahia but Chikatara’s second half strike ensured that the game ended even an at least Abia Warriors unbeaten run continued.
It was Bobby Clement that registered the first goal in Sunday’s derby contest; putting Rangers in front in the 22nd minute.
Abia Warriors got their chance to level things up in the 37th minute when Ndifreke won a spot kick after Orji Kalu upends him in the Rangers box.
The resultant kick was well dispatched by Uluocha who sent the Rangers keeper the wrong way to restore parity in the match.
While many thought the first half will at least stay even, it was not to be as Chisom Egbuchulam put Rangers back in front again via a brilliant free kick
Abia warriors waited till the 65th minute before they could level things again and it was their danger-man Chisom Chikatara who got the all important equaliser off Ndifreke Effiong’s assist.
The Morocco-bound forward had a couple of chances to bury the game but he failed to convert the chance; hence the Oriental derby ended in a 2-2 draw
