Kenyan international Johanna Omollo’s team Royal Antwerp will not be ascending to the Belgian top flight after only managing a barren draw when playing at home to league leaders AS Eupen in the Belgian second tier league on Saturday 30 April.
Antwerp who at one point in the season were 12 point clear, slacked to allow Eupen to catch up and with a better goal difference and heading to their last match of the season against the then league leaders Eupen, Antwerp needed a win at all cost.
The goalless draw, coupled with White Star Bruxelles’ win over relegated Patro Eisden meant both Eupen and Antwerp will have to wait one more season for the top flight slot as they finished on 62 points apiece.
White Star Bruxelles finished top with 65 points.
Omollo started the match from the bench and was introduced on the 71st minute for Mamoutou N’Diaye to make his 27th league appearance. He has two goals to his name.
