The clubs stated intent to suspend the league following the FKF move to award boardroom points to Kakamega Homeboyz and Shabana FC as well as the fact that they were unaware of the promotion and demotion criteria with the league heading to the end.
The issue of credibility of results from matches was also raised as a number of referees in the league have gone unpaid so the clubs felt the urge to suspend the league, against the federation’s wish.
In the Saturday matches, Zoo Kericho was scheduled to welcome Nakumatt FC in Kericho, St. Josephs was to play Modern Coast Rangers at the Afraha Stadium, Shabana was scheduled to play Nairobi Stima in Awendo, Kakamega Homeboyz were to play Ligi Ndogo at Ruaraka.
Kariobangi Sharks were to play Bidco at Kasarani; Agrochemicals were to play West Kenya Sugar as Moyas were listed to host Nzoia United.
None of the teams showed up for the pre match meetings.
