Ahead of the crucial double-header between Nigeria and Egypt in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has warned the Eagles that the Pharaohs will be hard to beat.
Egypt is currently on top of Group G with six points after beating Chad and Tanzania, while Nigeria sit second with four points following one win and a draw.
“I have a good feeling that we will be able to win the match. Nigeria is a good tough team but we’re good too. I also feel that I am surrounded by support from everyone encouraging us to get back to winning,” Elneny told MBC TV channel.
Elneny plays alongside Nigerian star Alex Iwobi in midfield for Premier League giants Arsenal and both players have been involved in the Gunners last two matches against Barcelona and Everton respectively.
When asked about if he talked to fellow Arsenal teammate about the match, the Egyptian confirmed that they did speak about it briefly, he said: “I told him that it will be hard for Nigeria to beat Egypt.”
The first leg will be held in Kaduna on the 25th of March, while the second leg is going to be played in Alexandria on March 29.
