The recently elected Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa has assured that he will not be tampering with the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) kickoff.
The league is scheduled to kick off on Saturday 13 February and with Mwendwa having declared after his election on Wednesday that he will vouch for an 18 – team league starting this season, fears cropped up that he will stop the league kickoff.
He has however clarified that the league will continue as scheduled but together with the KPL, they will work out modalities to see how the two extra teams will be added to the top flight.
“My stand is that we need to have an 18 – team league but I will not be tampering with the schedules laid out by the KPL. The league will kick off as scheduled.
“All this will be done through wide consultations with the league sponsors as well as the KPL management. We want to see modalities on how we can have the two additional teams included,” he said.
