Erstwhile Golden Eaglets gaffer Coach Emmanuel Amuneke has been promoted to now handle Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles.
The promotion of Coach Amuneke was made public on Wednesday following the ratification of the move by the executive committee of the NFF.
This was included in a communique made available to newsmen after its executive board meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
Recall that despite the various challenges faced, Coach Amuneke agianst all odds, led the Golden Eaglets to win the U17 World Cup in the Chile last year and he has now been handed a chance progress with his wards to the U20 level.
As stated by the NFF, Amuneke will be assisted by Kabiru Baleria and Emeka Amadi as Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Trainer respectively.
Amuneke who was named African footballer of the year in 1994 have the first task to qualify the Flying Eagles to the 20th Africa U20 Cup of Nations for Zambia in 2017.
Though the NFF was silent on the fate of the erstwhile Flying Eagles crew led by Coach Manu Garba, a report on FCNaij.com suggested that Coach Garba will return to the U17 team again to unearth new talents for the country.
