Witbank Spurs move back into the top three, while Baroka FC leap-frogged Highlands Park at the top of the NFD table.
Spurs thumped Thanda Royal Zulu 4-0 in Witbank on Sunday to claim third spot on the standings, with 49 points from their 27 matches.
Just outside of the play-off zone are Royal Eagles with 48 points, the KZN side having lost 2-1 to Baroka FC, that result enough to take the Limpopo team back above Highlands Park at the top of the standings.
Having only salvaged a late 1-1 draw away to FC Cape Town, Highlands Park have 53 points, the same number as Baroka FC, but the Lions of the North have an inferior goal difference. Baroka also have one match in hand.
It was an equally interesting weekend down at the foot of the table, with the bottom three clubs going into the weekend – African Warriors, Moroka Swallows and Mthatha Bucks, all recording victories.
Warriors beat Santos 3-0 at home, Swallows beat Vasco da Gama 3-1, while Bucks edged out CT All Stars 1-0 in Mthatha.
Warriors and Swallows however remain entrenched in the drop zone. Warriors are on 22 points, Swallows 23, while Thanda, who have a game in hand, have 25 points and are 14th. Santos are also on 25 points, while Mthatha Bucks have 26 points.
