Brazilian superstar, Neymar has expressed his desire to be one of the three nominees of this year’s FIFA Ballon D’Or.
The former Santos star talked up his relationship with Argentine forward Lionel Messi, who he regards are an idol and tip to add to his four Ballon D’Or title.
“I hope to grow next to Messi, the best in the world, and one day become the best,” Neymar told AS.
“I’m getting better all the time and I’m a guy who watches a lot and learns a lot from the best. Messi is the best in the world, an idol on and off the pitch. I hope I can learn from him and one day win the Ballon d’Or.”
“The Ballon d’Or is taken. This year the best in the world is already decided,” he said after the Copa America, AS notes.
“For all he has done, Messi deserves it. We’ll have to see if I can sneak into the three nominations.”
Messi is currently injured and missed the UEFA Champions League 2-1 win against German side Bayern Leverkusen on Wednesday evening.
