CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa has revealed his confidence in the Super Eagles of Nigeria to beat the Pharaohs of Egypt in their next two African Nations Cup qualifiers.
The three-time African champions did not qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea following a shocking qualification campaign and currently trail leaders, Egypt by two points in Group G of 2017 AFCON qualifying.
Nigeria will play Egypt in a back-to-back AFCON qualifier in March 2016 with Roma’s Mohammed Salah set to led the Pharaohs charge but Musa is positive of the Eagles chances and he hopes to captain the team to a major tourney.
“We know we have very tough games against Egypt in the New Year,” Musa told Nigeria Info FM. “We know we have to win at home against them in March (2016) and also go to Cairo and win there. They are going to be tough matches but we know the importance of the games.
“Without wins in those matches, we will not qualify for the Afcon so we are working very hard to see that we win those two games.”
Nigeria defeated Swaziland 2-0 at home in their last AFCON qualifying game.
