Jose Morurinho and Arsene Wenger took their feud to new grounds as the Arsenal boss refused his Manchester United counterpart to sit close to him during a Uefa conference, reports have claimed.
According to a report on the Daily Mail and Marca, Mourinho was denied a sit by Wenger when the former showed up late at the event/.
The report claims that Mourinho arrived late at a speech being delivered by Sir Alex Ferguson and spotting a seat next to Wenger, the Portuguese asked if he could occupy the space, but was reportedly told by the Frenchman: “No, it isn’t possible.”
The report further went to state that the other managers in the room laughed at Wenger’s response to the Manchester United boss.
The duo began feuding when Wenger criticized Mourinho’s defensive playing style. In August 2005 he said: “I know we live in a world where we have only winners and losers, but once a sport encourages teams who refuse to take the initiative, the sport is in danger.”
Mourinho shot back later, saying: “Wenger has a real problem with us and I think he is what you call in England a voyeur. He is someone who likes to watch other people. There are some guys who, when they are at home, have this big telescope to look into the homes of other people and see what is happening. Wenger must be one of them – it is a sickness.”
