With the amount of good players Bucs signed already, you’d think they have to be one of the favourites along with Mamelodi Sundowns for next seasons PSL title.
However Orlando Pirates legend Edward Motale believes that the fans must be patient with new coach Muhsin Ertugral and his new signings.
Pirates already signed Jackson Mabokgwane, Mahlatsi Makudubela, Thabiso Kutumela, Bernard Morrison, Riyaad Norodien, Lindokuhle Mtshali, Siphelele Zikalala, Abbubaker Mobara, Donald Mokondelela, Nkosinathi Mthiyane, Justice Chabalala, Sello Japhta and Ayanda Nkosi.
Back from loan there’s Philani Zikalala, Gladwin Shitolo and Mwape Musonda (Golden Arrows), Helder Pelembe and Mthokozisi Dube (Bloem Celtic), Kamohelo Mabuya, Tebogo Masaole and Zukile Mkhize from Royal Eagles.
“Look I think what Ertugral said is that he is gunning for glory and as we’ve come in to know him, he has brought in the youth,” Motale told Goal.com
“There are two sides I think, reshuffling is good, but equally it can also cost. It can cost you too much energy because if you bring nine or eight players at the go, when are they going to acclimatise? When are they going to adjust to the system of the team first before the system of the coach? When I speak of the system of the club I speak of the culture.
“For example, Mobara [Abbubaker] is from Cape Town and he is used to the cold and rainy weather every now and then and now he is coming to Johannesburg and sometimes it’s cold, sometimes it’s too hot and the whole lifestyle off the field also changes dramatically because football sometimes is not just about kicking the ball.
“That is why I say reconstruction can delay the project, at the same time it can help the project,” Motale concluded to Goal.
