Pitso Mosimane was quick to deflect credit from himself and onto the entire Mamelodi Sundowns contingent – players, staff, fans and management, after picking up the Absa Premiership Coach of the Month award for November-December.
Mosimane presided over a 10-game unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership beating the likes of Chippa United, Free State Stars and Orlando Pirates during the November-December period, scoring six goals in the process. His team currently tops the log standings, with 30 points from 14 games.
“I just want to thank the people who have helped me to be here because I’m collecting the award on behalf of Mamelodi Sundowns, I’m just here to collect the award as the recipient,” he said at the Premier League offices on Thursday afternoon.
“There are a lot of people who contributed to this, obviously and most importantly, the players – the people who play and score the goals, and obviously the technical staff that works with me as well.
“I’m lucky I’m surrounded by very good technical support, coaches, management, and obviously the Mamelodi Sundowns supporters, who keep the team going, shouting and singing at the top of their voices.
“I thank God, the management and everybody, including yourselves [the media] who come to the games and keep us there and focused.
“I think it’s for everybody; I don’t think anybody can receive an award and say it’s for themselves. You don’t do everything by yourself, so I’ve got a very good support structure,” said the former Bafana Bafana head coach.
