Colombia international Marlos Moreno is set to become Pep Guardiola’s fifth signing as the new City coach continues his summer business in the transfer window.
The coming of Moreno means more competition is on the cards of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho as even as Atletico Nacional coach Reinaldo Rueda reveals that the deal is almost done.
Moreno has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium and it is understood that City are poised to announce the signing of the 19-year-old in the coming days.
The Atletico forward is rated as one of the brightest young talents in South American football, giving a good account of himself during the just concluded Copa America Centenario with Colombia.
Rueda confirmed that Moreno’s Premier League transfer is imminent but with a caveat that a few minor details still needs to be ironed out in the coming days.
“Everything with Marlos is very close,” the 59-year-old said.
“It is a decision that has already been made by his agent and representatives.”
At the moment Rueda is hoping Moreno remains focused on the task at hand as Atletico is set for the return leg of their Copa Libertadores semi-final with Sao Paulo on Wednesday – in which they hold a 2-0 advantage
“We need and I hope he does not isolate himself from our goal [of reaching the final],” the coach added.
