Nigeria U23 skipper Okechukwu Azubuike is still interesting French Ligue 1 club Monaco, despite his club, Yeni Malatyaspor playing hardball, fcnaija.com has been told.
Nineteen-year-old Azubuike is presently with the Nigeria Olympic football team in the United States in a training camp ahead of the Olympic Games and is expected to quit the Turkish club after the Games in Brazil.
Fcnaija.com understands that several clubs are keen on the midfielder and have already made contact with his club, but Monaco are understood to be ahead of the queue.
“There are several clubs interested but Monaco appear to have shown more interest,” a source revealed to fcnaija.com.
Azubuike joined Malatyaspor last summer from Bayelsa United and was impressive for the club even though they failed to win promotion to the Super Lig.
He will lead Nigeria to the Olympic Games in Brazil, after which he is expected to move.
