Henrikh Mkhitaryan wants to leave Borussia Dortmund and join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United according to his agent Mino Raiola.
Raiola has admitted his player wants to head to the Premier League, despite Dortmund previously saying they would block any move.
Mkhitaryan, 27, impressed for Dortmund last season, helping them to second place in the Bundesliga and the German Cup final, scoring 23 goals and adding 32 assists along the way.
His performances at the Westfalenstadion have raised his profile in European football and it seems former Liverpool target Mkhitaryan is now keen for a move away from German football.
“He wants to go to Manchester United and we are still trying to resolve the situation,’ Raiola said.
“We are still talking to Dortmund. We are trying to be reasonable. They are aware that Micki wants to leave now.”
New Manchester United boss Mourinho – who succeeded Louis van Gaal – is set to stamp his mark on the Old Trafford squad this summer and has already added young defender Eric Bailly to his squad after signing the Ivorian from Spanish side Villarreal.
Should Mkhitaryan end up joining Bailly in the red half of Manchester he would add significant attacking quality to the United squad.
Mkhitaryan has informed Dortmund he won’t be extending his contract beyond June 2017, when it is scheduled to expire and he remains determined to force through a move to United.
That’s despite Dortmund making it clear they would block such a move.
