Kenyan forward Daniel Matengo who plies his trade for Somalia’s top division side Horseed FC was on thirsday 24 December sent off as his team took on Heegan FC in a Super Cup clash staged at the Banadir Stadium.
The Kenyan’s sending off, on the 47th minute came just a week after leading the team to win the General Da’ud Cup final, scoring the winning goal to see his side run out 2 – 1 winners.
His team mate Mohamed Abdi Soomane was also sent off in the clash on the 79th minute but the nine – man Horseed still held on to force a barren draw, and went on to win 3 – 1 on post match penalties.
The match, beamed live to the international audiences by Universal TV in conjunction with Somali National TV, was the second ever local game to be televised.
The Somali league is scheduled to kick off on Monday 28 December and will be played only on weekdays.
