The duo of Mikel Obi and Ahmed Musa will be missing in action as the Super Eagles take on Mali and Luxembourg in friendly matches in a fortnight.
The Nigeria Football Federation in a press statement on Thursday stated that they have decided to allow Super Eagles’ captain Mikel Obi and his assistant, Ahmed Musa to be part of the Joseph Yobo Testimonial Game billed for Friday, 27th May.
“The NFF leadership has decided that Mikel (Obi) and (Ahmed) Musa should be excused from the two friendly matches in Europe so that they can honour Joseph Yobo, who is having his testimonial game on the same Friday, 27thMay that we are playing Mali in Rouen, France.
“The two players have been communicated accordingly,” NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, confirmed to thenff.com on Thursday. Nigeria will play Mali in Rouen on 27th May and then take on Luxembourg in Luxembourg on the first day of June.
After missing out on AFCON qualification, the NFF is hoping to use the Mali and Luxembourg friendly to get the Eagles on track for the fast approaching World Cup qualifiers.
