Despite the torrid time on the pitch and the rough patch they are passing through, John Obi Mikel and his Chelsea teammates paid a surprise visit to patients at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to give them a festive treat.
Wednesday’s exercise is some sort of ‘ritual’ made by the Blues as it gives the players an opportunity to spread some much-needed joy to those who are going through difficult situations and, according to Gary Cahill; it’s a day which is hugely important for all involved
Once Mikel and his teammates were done at the Hospital , the players made the short journey back to Stamford Bridge for the Bridge Kids Christmas party, which took place in the Drake Suite.
Mikel Obi has been present at the event for a number of years now and he was delighted to help put a smile on so many faces.
He said: ‘It’s always good to come here and see the kids and give them early Christmas presents and spend time with them at this time of the year,’ Mikel said. ‘We know how much it means to them.’
Once the Hospital visit had ended, the players made the short journey back to Stamford Bridge for the Bridge Kids Christmas party, which took place in the Drake Suite.
The Blues after this kind gesture will hope they can turnaround their season as they take on Sunderland in the Premier League this Saturday.
