Free State Stars coach Ernst Middendorp believes they have the ability to beat anyone after dispatching Bidvest Wits in the Telkom Knockout this past weekend and drawing Mamelodi Sundowns in the next round .
The German boss is unbeaten since taking charge of the club in August, winning three out of four matches.
It is a remarkable turnaround for a side that lost all three matches to start the season – form that lead o the departure of former coach Kinnah Phiri.
“I am very confident in this team, if not arrogant, that we can beat any team that is put in front of us,” Middendorp said.
Danny Venter was the match-winner in their Telkom Knockout win over the Students, but his coach paid tribute to the entire team.
“I would like to give a huge compliment to the team the players showed great commitment to get us this win and for that I am happy,” Middendorp added. “We have number of youngsters who have shown hunger and a will to win. The players have really stepped up for us to get this.
“I will be smiling all the way to the quarter-finals.”
