Lionel Messi and Neymar are of the opinion that their Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez ought to have been named on the Ballon d’Or shortlist alongside them.
On Monday, FIFA shortlist Lionel Messi and Neymar alongside Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo snubbing the Uruguayan despite forming an unbelievable partnership with the South Americans duo.
The trio were known as MSN and contributed 125 goals for Barcelona over the last calendar year as they marched on to win the trio that season, winning the La Liga, Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
“I’m happy to be once again among the top three. Happy to be with Neymar,” said Messi after being named Best Player at La Liga’s annual awards ceremony.
“I’d have liked to be on [the] podium with Neymar and Luis.
“Luis Suarez deserved also to be among the top three, but do not detract from Cristiano Ronaldo, who also deserved it.”
Suarez, who joined Barcelona from Liverpool in the summer of 2014, has been overlooked,
Neymar on his part told the DailyMail:”Suarez should have been there too, but Messi is favourite, he’s the number one for me.
“Secret of MSN? Friendship and modesty. Leo and Luis are great friends, I hope to play with them for a long time, there are no egos.”
The winner of the Ballon d’Or will be announced on January 11 in Zurich with Messi and Ronaldo hot favourites to win.
