Former Millwall midfielder Eamon Dunphy claims that current FIFA Ballon D’Or holder Lionel Messi has no class following the his penalty antics for Barcelona in the win over Celta Vigo at the weekend.
The Catalan giants won the match 6-1 but the major talking point came when Messi won a penalty and instead of shooting straight at goal he cheekily passed the ball to Luis Suarez who slot the ball past Celta keeper Sergio Alvarez to complete his hat-trick.
Speaking on Game On on 2FM Dunphy accused the Argentine Captain of lacking class and should apologise for his disrespectful behaviour.
“No class. I thought it lacked class,” Dunphy began. “You have to respect your opponents and you have to respect the history of the game.
“None of the great players of the past would have ever dreamt of doing anything like that.
“Everyone who loves football, loves Messi and he let himself down, big time. He let the game down, he should apologise and he should be reprimanded by his coach.”
Barcelona currently sit top of the Spanish La Liga with 57 points and have a game in hand.
