Brazilians coach Pitso Mosimane has officially confirmed that the club is not renewing Katlego Mashego’s contract.
Mashego has been at Sundowns for three seasons, but couldn’t get a sniff in the first team due to the success of Leonardo Castro.
“Mashego was registered for (Caf) you saw him playing, but his contract is ending and he has the right not to continue,” Mosimane told the media.
“He feels that maybe at this point in time he should be looking for another team because we have made him aware that we are not going to renew his contract for next year,” Mosimane said.
“In his own discretion, he’s decided that this is the time he should look ahead to his future than to be concentrating on the last 15 days (of his contract).
“I mean, we can’t blame him but also he has a contract so we’ll see what we do with that,” Mosimane concluded.
Mashego has long been linked with Kaizer Chiefs, but it remains to be seen if Amakhosi will go after another player that was frozen out at a rival.
