Seattle Sounders striker Obafemi Martins and Didier Drogba are both in the run for the AT&T MLS Goal of the Year award for their respective clubs.
The Montreal Impact striker, Drogba who was elected player of the month of the MLS for a second month after made the list for his two identical goals against Toronto last Sunday.
Martins who won the award in 2014 for his stunner against San Jose Earthquakes got a look-in for the prize with his jaw dropping Golazo against Colorado Rapids in April and his superb finish in Sounders 4-0 thumping of Orlando City in August.
The 31 year old striker has won the Goal of the Week Award three times this season and will have to beat off competition from four of his Sounders teammates Tyrone Mears, Gonzalo Pineda, Clint Dempsey, Marco Pappa to win the Goal of the Season prize.
According to a report on the official website for the MLS, the first round of voting, will end on Nov. 1 with the winner will to be announced on Thursday, Dec. 3 ahead of MLS Cup.
Recall that the former Levante and Rubin Kazan of Russia star is set for his 40th international cap after he was recalled back to the Super Eagles for next month’s 2018 World Cup preliminary qualifier against Swaziland.
