Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has revealed that he sees the funny side of things whenever manager Louis van Gaal shouts at him.
The 20-year-old who joined the Old Trafford side at the summer from AS Monaco has enjoyed a fine start to his career in England scoring seven goals in 24 Premier League appearances.
He told RTL: “He [Van Gaal] yells at me. It makes me laugh because I know it’s for my own good.”
Martial was involved for France in the 3-2 win over Netherlands in Amsterdam on Friday and set up the winning goal for Blaise Matuidi.
The Frenchman also said that he was warned by his national team manager, Didier Deschamps, about not fulfilling his potential back in the autumn.
“[He said] what are you waiting for, with the qualities you have? It would be a huge waste.”
He added that his former boss at Monaco, Leonardo Jardim, was tough on him but it was all in the bid to help him develop his game, he sai: “He was very hard with me — that’s what I needed.”
