Kenyan international McDonald Mariga had an afternoon to forget as he was given his marching orders in the game against Virtus Entella on Sunday 24 April s his US Latina side suffered a 0 – 1 in the Serie B clash at Comunale Domenico Stadium.
Michele Troiano netted the lone goal on the 18th minute, eight minutes before Virtus were reduced to ten men when Aniello Cutolo was sent off.
Latina could not utilize the one – man advantage and in the added time, Latina too went a man down, Mariga getting a direct red card on his 13th league appearance and will thus miss the next two fixtures against Spezia and Crotone.
Latina has so far collected 40 points in 38 games and still have four matches to play, from which they need at least six points to escape the relegation playoff bracket.
Meanwhile, Harambee Stars goalkeeper Arnold Origi was between the sticks as his Lillestroem SK side thumped Odds BK 3 – 1 in a Norwegian top tier match at Skagerak Arena.
Lillestroem are sixth on the 16-team table with ten points from seven games. They play Lillehammer in a cup game on Wednesday 27 April.
