Kenyan midfielder McDonald Mariga played the entire 90 minutes and got his first goal for Serie B side US Latina in a 1 – 3 loss to Cagliari in a match staged at Comunale Domenico Francioni Stadium on Saturday 13 February.
Mariga scored on the 57th minute with a long range effort but his goal turned out to be a mere consolation for the home team.
Mariga completed the full 90 minutes for a second straight complete game after a similar appearance against Ascoli last weekend.
The goal was Mariga’s first in a league game since 31 March 2012 when he scored the first goal as Parma beat Lazio 3-1 in a Serie A tie.
By the time Mariga scored, Cagliari was two goals up, the goals having been netted by Gianni Munari in the 47th minute before Federico Melchiorri doubled.
The visitors put the game to rest as Melchiorri completed his brace right from the restart after Mariga’s goal.
With the win, Cagliari went three points clear at the summit of the Serie B while Latina stays 14th in the 22 –team log.
