Kenyan international McDonald Mariga got his first start under new coach Carmine Gautieri and went on to score for his Italian Serie B side US Latina as they whacked Avellino 3 – 0 on Sunday 3 April.
Mariga, who was left on the bench for the last three matches scored the opener on the 30th minute to set the ball rolling for Latina who ended a nine-game winless streak. The goal was his econd of the season after making ten appearances.
Ghanaian striker Richmond Boakye doubled the lead just before half time to send Latina to the break leading 2-0 and Luigi Scaglia netted the third on 61 minutes.

He played the entire match with his only setback being the 85th minute yellow card he picked.
Both Avellino and Latina are in mid table, the former in 13th place with 44 points, and the and Mariga’s side in 14th place with 39 points.
