Kenya has dropped in the latest FIFA rankings, released on Thursday 15 September, by three places to settle at number 91 from the August ranking of 88th. In Africa Kenya is ranked 23rd.
During the period of the rankings, Harambee Stars played two friendly matches against higher ranked opponents and drew both, playing to a 0 – 0 draw with Uganda in a friendly match before registering a 1 – 1 draw with Zambia in a 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, both during the rankings period.
In the latest release, Uganda remains the best ranked team in the CECAFA region 15th in Africa, and position 65 globally, maintaining their place from the previous rankings.
Harambee Stars will be looking to rise again as the team has one friendly match before the next rankings are released, an international friendly matcheagainst the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday 4 October.
Ahead of the match, DR Congo has improved by five places from 56th to 51st in the world and fifth in Africa in the latest rankings. The next rankings will be released on Thursday 20 October.
