Gor Mahia coach Jose Marcelo has made his sentiments clear that he wants to win the KPL Top 8 Cup, which will be his first piece of silverware in the country.
The Brazilian took over at Gor Mahia in March and has managed to instill a winning mentality in the team and his hard work paid off with the team securing a place in the final, having beaten Tusker 3 – 0 on aggregate in the two – legged semi final.
Ze Maria’s side completed the job with a 1 – 0 win on Sunday 19 June at the Nyayo National Stadium after a 2 – 0 first leg win and the coach had nothing but praise for his boys in his comments, even as he called for caution heading to the final.
“I am happy to lead the team to the final, my first in Kenya and I hope we can finish the job in the final. We played well and I think it is all down to the winning mentality in the team. All praise is to the players and as we advance to the final, they should keep the right focus.
“I am satisfied with the performance and I hope to see more of that,” he noted.
Gor Mahia will face Muhoroni Youth in the final.
