Soccer legend, Diego Maradona has expressed fears that new Argentina boss, Edgardo Bauza may not be able to successfully persuade Lionel Messi out of international retirement.
Bauza at the moment is in Barcelona when he is on a mission to convince Messi back to rescind his decision to quit the Argentina national team, but Maradona feels the institutional problems “exposed” by the No 10’s retirement will put pay to the Coach’s efforts.
“I think Messi will say ‘no’ to Bauza. That’s what I think, although I may be wrong,” the Albiceleste legend told Radio La Red.
“What’s happened with Messi exposes [what’s been going on behind the scenes for] a lifetime.
“How is it that the families of the [AFA] leaders are more comfortable than those of the players?”
Messi made a shock announcement of his retirement after failing to help Argentina win top prize at the last Copa America.
