The superlative performance of Kelechi Iheanacho on Saturday when he banged a brace in Manchester City’ 4-0 drubbing of Stoke City has been highly commended by Arsenal legend and former Nigeria Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu.
Kanu is particularly excited with Iheanacho’s steady rise to stardom as he reckons that the 19-year old passed through his academy before hitting limelight with the 2013 set of the Golden Eaglets which conquered the world in the United Arab Emirates few years back.
“Well done Kelechi ihenacho.Happy to see you scoring and Happy that you came from my academy. am proud of you” Kanu posted on his twitter account after the display by Iheanacho against the Potters.
Iheanacho with his latest two goals has increased his goal tally in the League this season to five.
The 19-year old who was just starting the fourth league game for City this weekend was deservedly voted the Man-of-the-match Award for his effort in Saturday’s game as City monetarily leapfrogged Arsenal into third place.
