Manchester United welcomes West Bromwich Albion to Old Trafford on Saturday but the biggest fear for Baggies defender John Evans is Wayne Rooney who he rates as one of the best in the world.
Evans was teammates at United with the England Captain who recently becond the second joint highest goalscorer ever for the Red Devils courtesy his winner against CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Champions League game played on Tuesday.
However, although manager Louis van Gaal has kept faith with Rooney – some section of the United fans has been disgruntled with the players lack of goals this season so far which has led to calls for him to be dropped.
But, Evans who made a switch to the Hawthorns this summer believes that Rooney has the ability to prove people wrong.
“Wayne Rooney is such a good player, on his day he’s one of the best in the world,” the 27-year-old told the Express & Star:
“It’s funny, little things like that happen, little spells, and people automatically try and write people off but Wayne Rooney’s a fighter. I’m sure he’ll relish this opportunity to prove people wrong. “He’ll just brush it off. I’m sure he’ll take a few things on board and he’ll try to put it right but he’s had a career under the microscope and it’s not always an easy place to be.”
Manchester United are currently placed fourth on the premier league log with 21 points while West Brom sit 12th with 14 points after 11 matches so far.
