Jose Mourinho is desperate to make Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan his second signing for Manchester United and has sanctioned a fresh £28m bid for the Armenian.
Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola is pushing for the deal to go through but Dortmund are only willing to sell him for a bid in the region of £31m.
Manchester United had already seen a £19m offer turned down by the Bundesliga giants but the Red Devils have now upped their offer to £28m, plus add-ons.
Mourinho wants to do his summer deals early and that was evident as he landed Ivorian defender Eric Bailly as he looks to enjoy a full pre-season with his squad.
Manchester United are confident that the £28m bid will be enough capture the player who has been a mainstay in the midfield of Bundesliga outfit Dortmund since he joined the club.
